This is Katoi. He developed cataracts from a young age, and his sight has been severely limited. Now ten years old, he is incapable of enjoying a normal childhood. Without any form of treatment, his life would have been one of challenge, difficulty and loneliness.

Here in Kenya, opportunities and resources are few and far between for the visually impaired. But we at Lighthouse have a vision to see this changed. We met Katoi at one of our eye camps. His father fearing for his boy’s sight brought him along, clinging to the hope he would get his once happy child back. Our team of surgeons, nurses and volunteers delivered care and excellence  throughout his time at Lighthouse. After successful surgery, he’s now able to enjoy childhood, play, run, learn and grow like intended.
