Eye Clinic

The Lighthouse Eye Hospital is a bustling center of excellence right on the edge of Old Town, Mombasa.  Built on the main road back in 1969, we continue to be a beacon of hope and healing for the entire community, which is majority Muslim. In 2023, nearly 40,000 people were seen by our clinical staff in a variety of locations. Over 27,000 came through our doors at our main eye clinic campus.  Over 4,600 patients were seen at our satellite locations and nearly 8,000 on outreaches in villages and towns all over south-eastern Kenya. These outreaches are paid for with the profits from the Hospital and provide excellent eye care and the restoration of sight to thousands of people who would otherwise never be seen by a doctor.

Our Medical team is led by Dr. Fredrick Korir, a faithful and faith-filled doctor who has been with us for nearly 10 years. We also have fantastic Clinical Officers (similar to Nurse Practitioners) in Sawe, Rose and Amos.  We are so proud of their quality work as well as their hearts to serve everyone who comes to the Clinic.

Our doctors are trained in everything from Glaucoma to Cataracts, Strabismus to Cornea Transplants.  We dispense glasses and medications when necessary and many pediatric surgeries are done for free. While there are very few ophthalmic conditions we cannot treat, the true joy comes when we see the gospel shared with most of our patients, and hundreds of people turning to Jesus.  Last year, Lighthouse for Christ was able to lead some 2,600 people to faith in Christ.
